Just noticed that there is now a new updated version of MinimServer out called MinimServer 2. I've noted no difference in SQ compared to when I've used the DragonFly on various laptops and have done a fair amount of comparison (this is my main system!), though I am considering a linear PSU for the NAS (=audiophilia nervosa) My concerns are also around the USB controller implementation on the NAS (hardware) & the firmware/driver that Synology use too, I think it's Class 1 Audio compliant, but not Class 2. The Minim website indicates that MinimServer 2 sets a new direction for MinimServer, with an emphasis on ease of use and a choice of versions to meet the needs of different users. Website also states that it will be available for: Synology (all models) Windows (all versions from Windows XP onwards. Media Server - Used to play music out to external device, either a UPnP (Windows Media Player 11). That said, AudioStation supports 24bit replay and I guess I now have to go check and see what plays! 24/96 I'm sure works but haven't tried and 24/192 files as I don't own any.Īs to the Music Station app, it's OK but not as usable as, say, Sonos, though I did junk Sonos for this system and IMHO it's worth it for the step up in SQ, even at 16/44. MinimServer is a great UPnP Audio Server which provides a better way to explore your music collection with Intelligent Browsing and many more outstanding. Can Media Server be used to play music to a USB sound card for input to an external receiver (see my question here: ). If I can convince myself that the USB hardware in the NAS is up to the job then a Benchmark DAC1 will be on the cards. oh also the the Music Station app is terrible at Internet Radio! Thanks in advance for your help, maybe someone else encounters the issue as well. Hi, the hibernation issue may be due to either MinimServer or BubbleUPnP Server writing messages to the respective log-files.įor MinimServer, make sure that you run version 0.72 and that the logging level is set to 'Info' (MinimWatch -> Show log -> Logging level).įor BubbleUPnP Server, you may change the logging level to 'OFF' or to 'SEVERE'. You can do this by changing the corresponding entry in the file 'configuration.xml' and doing a subsequent restart of BubbleUPnP Server. You'll find the configuration.xml file in the directory '/homes/bubbleupnp/appData'. I tried Minimserver for a while until Illustrate released an Asset for Synology. Putting the loglevel to SEVERE didn't do the task, however after I updated BubbleUPNP to 0.65 and put the loglevel to OFF, the disks go to standby. Minimserver (IMO) is a faff to set up (& I’m a techie geek) & although excellent for Classical music, I don’t have that much material to use it to its full potential.
